Tip #1: Timing Your First Email

You know the saying ‘you only get one first impression’? Well, thanks to Rejoiner, you get two. You’re welcome.

Seriously though, with over 55% of people abandoning their shopping carts there’s a ton of potential to bring customers back through remarketing.

And it starts with the first email.

The first email is by far the most important piece in bringing a customer back to your site and closing the sale. The first email reminds them why they were on your site, what they were looking for, what they almost bought and that maybe, they weren’t actually finished.
Let’s look at some stats:

  • The average open rate of remarketing emails is over 40%
  • Follow-up within minutes is 3x more effective than waiting 24 hours and 7x more effective than waiting a week.
  • 15%-50% of abandoned shopping carts can be recovered when shoppers are contacted immediately after they leave the site.

Those are some pretty serious stats and what really stands out is the immediacy in which the emails are sent. While it may seem hasty to send an email to a customer right after they left the site, it works.

Our recommendation:

Send the first email 30 minutes after the abandon for the best results.
