To be honest, as a marketer you usually are pretty holiday aware when it comes to your inbox. Like, you know when Halloween emails will begin to appear and amount to most of your unread email count.
Thus, I wasn’t too hyped about April Fools. I know that its a great marketing day because you can be playful and hope that your creation goes viral. For that reason we usually expect really “meh” stuff. However, Bloomingdales surprised us.
Ww totally laughed when we saw this email. One, because they are being true to their beauty brand and are not using some outrageous joke. This means that they concept was well-thought out and instead of going for the far-fetch they went for something small and hit it big and way out of the park with this email.
Plus, the addition of an actual dog getting pampered is BRILLIANT. Not only because we love dogs, but because psychology wise, we (hoomans) tend to put our personalities into these fury companions. Thus, even though you’re seeing this fabulous dog get pampered, you’re really seeing yourself on it and enjoying the experience.
